Unseen hands

This collection and material exploration aim to shed light on the
unseen hands behind garment creation—the labor that fuels fashion
beyond its aesthetic appeal. Inspired by Otto Von Busch’s Vistas
of Vitality, the project critiques the disconnect between the
maker and the consumer, emphasizing the physicality of labor
through storytelling.
The collection will incorporate textiles printed with handprints,
symbolizing the touch of artisans, seamstresses, and menders who
bring garments to life. Through these materials, the project
challenges viewers to acknowledge the human effort embedded in
every stitch, moving beyond surface-level beauty to a deeper
recognition of labor, land, and health. By materializing these
narratives, the collection seeks to foster a more conscious
relationship between fashion, its makers, and its wearers, urging
a shift toward ethical and empathetic design.
